Vampires – They Showed Up To Protect Me

Published October 14, 2026

I was never into things like ghosts, Vampires or aliens, and I truly thought all psychics were frauds. I wasn’t religious, interestingly though I was baptised Roman Catholic as a baby. I say “interestingly” because that was the extent of my churchgoing experience. One baptism, and that was it. The only times I had ever stepped a foot inside a church were for other people’s events, weddings, baptisms, or funerals. I didn’t even get married in a church. I did, however, like to visit old churches, the architecture and history fascinate me.

Like lots of people I enjoyed the movies about Vampires, Bram Stoker’s Dracula is a solid favourite of mine and of course The Lost Boys with Kiefer Sutherland. Interview with a Vampire, Daybreakers, and the Underworld series are all solid choices for movie night. I read the Twilight series when it first came out, but that’s where it ended, entertainment, only entertainment.

I believe there are a few things you need to know. My career was that of a psychic and the first thing I will tell you, with my hand on my heart, is that no one wakes up one morning and says, “Today I want to be a psychic.” It isn’t on the list of potential careers on the poster in the guidance counsellor’s office.

The second thing I will tell you is that being psychic comes with costs that no one talks about. The cost of always needing to prove your sanity, not just to others but to yourself as well. The cost of your old life not fitting into your new life. Where family and friends leave, you can’t stay at your job, you can’t keep living in the same town, and sometimes not even in the same province.

The third thing I will tell you is that being psychic comes with a responsibility because now you have access to information that is not obvious to most. You as the psychic now see the world very differently. You begin to learn that there is so much more going on beyond what you have grown up believing. You learn quickly that your dreams are no longer nightly adventures that mean nothing when you’re awake. Dreams are like living stories that float in time and are always applicable when you’re awake. You learn dreams are a language that you can understand if you try.

The very last thing I will tell you is that I never wanted this, but now that I have it, I would not give it up for anything.

Of course, the topic at hand is Vampires and I am going to share with you the evidence that proved to me that Vampires are as real as you and I. Some of you are going to think I am making this up and that it’s a disappointing depiction of Vampires. Some of you are going to know that what I am sharing is real, and after reading this, your understanding of a Vampire will be different. As mentioned earlier, I saw the idea of Vampires to be nothing more than entertainment until it was no longer entertainment.

My story starts with me standing in a dining room with my best friend. The room was very plain but it looked and felt familiar, although I couldn’t seem to grab the thought of where I had seen it before. I was standing in front of a large rectangle dining room table with eight chairs. There were three chairs on each side with one chair at each end of the table. I had started to walk back and forth along one side of the table, taking note of how plain the wall is, no paint or wallpaper, not a picture or a window, just a plain, boring, white wall. There is a door to my right that leads outside and I remember a feeling growing fast inside of me, something that felt strong and different. I kept my eye on the door with full knowledge that company was about to arrive.

I blurted out, “I hope they eat before they get here.” We both started laughing. That’s what I did whenever things were tense, awkward, or stressful: I made light of what was happening. I was good at it and it worked. We were quickly relaxing into the situation until the first knock at the door. My heart jumped, I stopped breathing and I know I didn’t move. As I blinked in what seemed like slow motion a second knock registered in my mind. I watched the door as it was beginning to open and a man’s head poked through.

I took a breath and told myself to calm down in the toughest mom voice I could muster in my head. I don’t know if I smiled, I think I must have because he smiled at me and said, “Hello Little One”. The door opened wide and eight or nine men walked into the dining room alongside the plain white wall. I looked quickly at each of them, noticing one common thing, they were all dressed like ordinary tradesmen. Some wore Carhartt coats, some wore plaid coats, and most wore some kind of winter hat or ball cap. I remember thinking, Jeans and work boots for the lot.

The man with the smile said to me, “We have come for protection,” and without hesitation I asked, “You want me, to protect all of you?”

They all started laughing even though I was serious. Then the one with the smile said, “No, we are here to protect you. My name is Damion, and this is my team. We are what you know as Vampires.”

I immediately asked, “Am I in danger from you?” I was surprised by Damion’s answer. “No, Little One, we’ve been sent to protect you.” He continued to explain. “What you know about Vampires is wrong and is only for the movies. Sure, they get some things right, but mostly they are wrong. What you need to know is this, we eat regular food, and we don’t drink blood. We don’t like junk food, but we can eat it if we must. We prefer real food, clean meat, vegetables and starches, the same as you. Where we are different is this; we don’t age, though we can be killed. We are much faster than humans, all our senses are extremely heightened and of course we can be out in sunlight. We do sleep like humans only not as often; we need sleep every three to four days, only for about six to eight hours and we prefer a normal bed, not a coffin. We have been assigned to you and your kids, you won’t see or hear us, and we will be keeping our distance so we don’t disrupt what you’re doing. Please keep in mind, we will be with you at all times, everywhere you go. You will be safe.”

Then just like that, he stopped talking, nodded and all of them left the room in the same way they had entered. I took note that they did not say anything to my friend, but I noticed several were staring at her while Damion was speaking to me.

The next thing I noticed I was sitting on my bed with my legs dangling over the edge, feeling like I was waking up from something other than a dream. I never wake up sitting on the side of my bed on top of the covers. This was different, it was more than a dream, I just didn’t know what it was.

My mind was racing about what I had just experienced. I took the time to write some notes, a habit I’ve had for years. I got up and walked around the house, it was early in the morning, around 1:30 a.m. when I finally thought to look at the time. I looked out the sliding glass doors of my living room, I wasn’t scared, I was just awake. Being awake during the night was normal for me. I had stopped sleeping like normal people years earlier when the psychic stuff started. My new sleeping habit was more like a series of naps throughout the night, with long periods of being awake and walking around in between. I don’t know why, but I never wanted to just stay in bed and lay there. For me, the second I wake up in the middle of the night, my feet hit the ground, and I leave my room. This occurs multiple times a night.

I had so many questions now. I kept thinking about meeting Damion, his team and what he had said. I kept thinking about the word Vampire, and what it means. If they aren’t what we know them to be, why do they call themselves that? I mean, to me, Vampire meant drinking blood, he said they eat normal food and don’t drink blood. And who sent them? That was a huge question in my mind. Damion also had a beard, olive-coloured skin, dark brown eyes, and dark hair. Vampires never have beards and are never depicted as tradesmen.

The next night, I expected another meeting with Damion since I had spent all day thinking about our last meeting. That’s how I thought dreams worked, the more you think about something the more likely you were to dream about it. This wasn’t the case and it was a while before my next encounter.

It’s funny how a dream can rattle you. Since then, whenever I was out shopping or dropping the kids off at school, I would catch myself looking around a lot more, trying to see if I could catch a glimpse of one of the Vampire men. As observant as I thought I was, I never did see them.

A few months later I planned a trip with the kids to go visit my sister on the mainland. This was the first time I was leaving the island since having the dream of Damion. After making the necessary arrangements with my sister I dreamed of Damion that night.

I was sitting in the front passenger seat of a car being driven to a house. I hadn’t been in the car for long before pulling into the driveway. It was dark, sometime in the middle of the night and the house looked new. One that look remarkably similar to the newly completed subdivision just down the road from my house.

The man driving belonged to Damion’s team, I had seen him the last time I had met them in the dining room with the boring walls. He moved impossibly fast from being beside me in the car, to outside, opening my door, and gently pulling me out of the car. He was met by another man, where they both escorted me to the house and through the front door. We entered the house and the men then continued to escort me down the entry way of the house, past a small two-piece bathroom and down a tiny hall into a living room that opened into the kitchen. The living room and dining room were essentially one room divided by a table where several of the men from the other night were standing facing me. Damion was standing with his back to me bent over the table looking at papers that were spread out. He stood up and turned to me. “Welcome Little One,” he said, “we’re nearly finished and I’ll bring you up to speed in a moment.”

I realized quickly they were working out a protection detail to escort me and my kids to my sister’s on the mainland. Then it hit me, I knew absolutely nothing about what they could do, only what they told me. I had no proof for myself and I wanted some. These weren’t the same Vampires from the movies, so I decided to test them. The second I thought no one was looking I made it seem like I was going to the bathroom, but instead I went to the front door, opened it slowly and quietly walked out. I headed down the driveway and as I passed the car that brought me, I saw that the keys were in the ignition. Without hesitation I got into the driver’s seat and started the car. I took a half second to see if I was being followed, put the car in reverse and backed onto the road. As I stopped to put the car into drive, I looked back at the house again, to my surprise no one was following me. I hit the gas and took off quick. I quickly hit sixty kilometres per hour and said to myself, “some Vampires these guys are”. Before the thought had fully left my mind, I saw up ahead, standing in the middle of the road, Damion. My heart stopped as I slammed on the brakes and brought the car to a stop. In a blink he had the door open and pulled me out. “What are you doing?” he said.

“You said you were here to protect me” I said in a rough, stern voice,

“I’m not just going to take your word for it, now am I?” staring into his eyes.

“Fair enough, but don’t do it again,” he said with a look of satisfaction on his face.

I smiled and said, “deal.”

The next thing I knew, I was waking up sitting on the side of my bed just like the last time. Feet dangling and all.

My trip to see my sister on the mainland went as planned. The visit was enjoyable but uneventful to say the least. Nothing exciting to report. As for my new protection, I looked but didn’t see any evidence of them around.

Life continued as normal. I worked, hung out with the kids, had weekly movie nights with friends. In short, it was the same old.

A few months later, on a Friday afternoon, I called my sister on the mainland to see if she was free and wanted the kids and me to come for a short notice visit. The trip hinged on whether she could pick us up that evening from the ferries and then drop us back off on the Sunday. When travelling to the mainland, driving over was an added expense I didn’t need or want. After a few calls back and forth we were all set. It takes 45 minutes to drive to the ferries from my house, and if we were going to make it on time we needed to leave in a hurry. I told the kids and they were both surprised and excited. Even though seeing their aunt was always a good time for them I think they were more excited about eating at the buffet on the boat.

We arrived at the ferry terminal to catch the 7PM sailing. I parked the car in long-term parking and grabbed our bags. I made the hurried walk across the parking lot, the same walk you make when you need to get somewhere quickly but have kids with you. After buying the tickets and sending our bags down the checked luggage ramp we walked down the stairs to the berth waiting area. We found a place to sit down, and I made a point of looking around to survey the area and the people around me. To me it’s a must when you’re a single mom with two kids. I didn’t see anything out of the ordinary and I wasn’t even thinking about the Vampire protection since it had been months since I dreamt of them.

The kids and I had two rules when travelling on the ferry: first, be among the first on the boat so we could get to the buffet before the line got long; second, be among the last off the boat to avoid the crowds. The buffet restaurant is its own section at the back of the ship. In my opinion, it’s the best place to spend the sailing. The view is gorgeous, it’s quiet and we usually end up staying there for most of the sailing.

The weekend was another success. The kids had fun and nothing major happened. Like always when you haven’t driven yourself, you’re at the mercy of your ride when trying to leave. It was later in the afternoon, and it was stormy, cold, wet, and dark when my sister finally said she was ready to take us to the ferries. The hour-long drive to the ferry was mostly quiet. The sailing we were catching didn’t have the buffet so I was thinking about how the kids were going to be on the boat and where we might go to kill some time. It was getting even darker as we got to the terminal, and my sister was sheepishly saying her good-byes. Before we had even stopped the car, I realized she is not hanging around. She pulled up to the terminal, and we got out. The second I closed the car doors, looked at her and nodded, she was off, never looking back.

It’s funny how things like that bug me. I can’t just drop someone off, especially family, not get out of the car or wait to make sure they make it safely to where they were going. I just don’t operate that way. I understand the weather was terrible, no one wants to get wet and cold if they don’t have to, but she could have stayed to make sure we got inside the building okay. To me, this shows character—character I don’t understand, character I don’t like.

We bought our tickets, checked our luggage, and walked to the berth waiting area. I take my time to look around. I don’t see anything that I’m not already expecting. We looked out at the water from the windows and and watched as the lights in the distance get brighter as the boat came into sight. After the boat docked, we watched the people walk off and even though this sailing doesn’t have the beloved buffet, the kids and I were still first in line to board. As we watch the last of the passengers leave and our doors to the gangway open, I felt something that caught me off guard, something strong and different. As I started looking around quickly, I was startled with the sound of the doors opening and I shifted my focus to the kids and boarding the boat.

Once we made it up to the seating area of the passenger deck and sat down, I felt it again. A strong and strange feeling that I can’t put my finger on. It doesn’t feel bad, just different, and very close.

Over the loudspeakers the captain announced that the open water section of the sailing was going to be rough and to secure any belongings, so they don’t slide away. Rough was an understatement. My youngest was instantly seasick. The only thing I could think of to help her feel a little better was to get to the lowest deck possible. I know that the rocking of the boat was less severe the closer to the water we are. We made our way to the lowest level and sat on the floor in the hallway. The sailing is an hour and forty-five minutes in good weather, who knows how long in bad weather.

Relief set in as the boat began to slow down as it got closer to shore. “We survived” I thought to myself, and that’s when I saw him. Standing down the hallway from me, dressed as a tradesman, Carhartt coat, jeans, work boots, denim shirt with a plain T-shirt on underneath. He had on a backpack and was carrying a lunch box, the kind with a matching thermos. I recognized him as one of the men with Damion. He caught my eye as he stood on the other side of the table from me in that boring white dining room the first time I met the Vampires. Most of them had dark hair with dark beards, this man had red hair with a red beard. He was the only one with red hair. The feeling was from him, he nodded at me, backed up, and was gone.

As the kids and I made our way across the parking lot to the car in the rain, I couldn’t stop thinking about the man I had just seen. I was fact checking everything I could remember. I know he was in that dining room the first time I met the Vampires, and I know I saw him again the second time, but where was he? It took me a second, then I remembered: he was standing behind another man across from Damion the night I was taken to the house in the new subdivision.

While sitting in the car with the kids waiting to warm up and the windows to defog, I saw him again through the partially defogged window. He was standing out of the way from any lights, near the tree line of the parking lot and in the half second it took me to blink, he was gone. He had stood there just long enough to make sure I saw him and then he vanished, with no evidence he had ever been there.

The days that followed were a blur. I had been going over what I had written down about meeting the Vampires and what I had just experienced on the boat and in the parking lot. What followed were rapid thoughts, contemplating what I thought I knew. If they’re real, why did it seem like a dream? Why did I wake up sitting on the side of my bed? Do I even know what dreams are? Was I taken out of my house? Were there two different houses? There had to have been, the dining rooms were different and in the second house the dining table divided the living room from the kitchen. Questions—so many questions—consumed me.

Waking up sitting on the side of my bed was the most concerning, the more I thought about it, the more it made sense that I had been placed there. The same way you put a child on the bed when you’re putting on their socks.

Then one day, after many other strange things had happened, my spirit guide wanted to have a conversation. The kind of conversation that is more like a lesson rather than the usual back-and-forth. The type of conversation where you want to ask questions and take notes because you don’t want to assume what was said.

This is what my spirit guide told me. “Little One, the Vampires are as real as you are. What Damion told you was accurate, but he did leave many things out that I am now able to share with you.” There was a pause and my spirit guide continued. “Vampires are made as fully grown adults. They are not born the way a human is, but then again, humans don’t understand how they come into creation either. Vampires are an evolved representation of the human. In all aspects of their human looking body, they are the same as you: a consciousness inhabiting an organic form under an agreement to function in cooperation. The difference is the type of agreement a Vampire has with their body compared to the type of agreement a human has with their body. In short, they are in control of their bodies and you are not.’

Another long pause and I took notes. I then asked my spirit guide out loud, “Why are they protecting me and the kids?”

“Because you need protecting.”

“I understand that, but what are they protecting us from?” I rebutted.

“You are being protected because you are important. Important items, information, and people get protection from those who can protect,” was the answer.

I knew this was all I was going to get from my spirit guide, and I was satisfied for now with the new information.

It was two years before another interaction with Damion and his team. Before this, I had moved to the mainland under terrible conditions and stress that should have turned my hair grey overnight. We had been in our new house for just over a month when they came again. This time I had been woken up by what sounded like men fighting in the house, a lot of men fighting. In the half second it took to be sure of what I was hearing I was running down the stairs to the main floor. What I saw was Damion and his team fighting with what I can only describe as monsters.

I stopped dead in my tracks as I tried to get a good look at these monster-like people. They were slimy, with limbs that looked like a patchwork Frankenstein job. They had exposed wires coming out of their bodies in places like their necks and arms. I noticed they were strong but not very fast. They looked like what I can only describe in the few seconds I saw them as slimy robot zombies. I tried to help, but just as I took another step into the living room I was grabbed by Damion. He scooped me up in his arms, ran me across the house and back upstairs to my bedroom.

“Little One, stay in bed. We can take care of this. It’s dangerous. Stay here, please,” he said firmly as he pulled the covers over my body.

He was gone just as fast and I heard more fighting downstairs. Before I realized what I was doing, I was up again and on my way downstairs to make sure my protectors were safe. That’s when one of the monsters grabbed my leg and bit it just above the ankle. I didn’t see it lying on the ground by the stairs. I yelled, and in an instant, I was in the air being moved faster than I had ever been moved in my life. Instantly I was in my bed again with Damion standing over me checking my leg with relief that the bite hadn’t broken the skin.

“It didn’t break the skin, it didn’t break the skin” he said repeatedly as if he was reassuring himself instead of me.

I noticed he was worried, but before I could say anything it was suddenly morning, and I was waking up. This time I was under the covers. I checked my leg at once and there was a mark that wrapped around the back of my leg just above the ankle, right where the creature tried to bite me. I kept checking and the skin wasn’t broken. Suddenly I was very aware that I was now sick.

I went downstairs expecting to see evidence of a fight but there wasn’t any. The only thing different was that the house was a little cleaner than when I had gone to bed.

It was the next night when my spirit guide explained what those creatures were and what had happened, none of it was good. This is what my spirit guide told me: the creatures Damion and his team were fighting are called Silth, there is a toxin on their skin that is deadly to humans. They had been sent to kill me; it was supposed to look like I had died from an illness.

I asked who had sent them, and I was told I didn’t need to know. I also asked if Damion’s team had been hurt and if any of them got sick. I was told that some of them did get hurt, but because of what they are, they heal quickly.

After that incident, whenever I questioned if Damion’s team was still with me, I would ask out loud during the day, and the next time I was out running errands, one of them would make themselves visible to me. Never longer than a few seconds, but always consistent.

Everything I’ve shared so far, I experienced before the spring of 2017. It wasn’t until after I got married to my husband John in the summer of 2017, that we had another experience with Damion and his team of Vampires.

We moved again in the spring of 2019. This time it was only a temporary move into a corner unit of a row of townhouses. It was a cute townhouse, and we did make it a home, we just didn’t know how temporary it was going to be. A few weeks in, my spirit guide told me we were unwanted and that the Vampires are closer than normal because of this.

In the middle of the night, I found myself in our garage. I was standing with Damion on my right and two other Vampires on my left. In front of me were two human-looking people, I was not sure if they were male or female, or both. I knew they only looked human and were anything but. They wanted us to keep our distance from them and we agreed. I had to assure them that we were not staying long and would be moving again.

When I woke up in the morning I checked my feet, this was now a habit and like I suspected they were dirty from being in the garage. Before this meeting, I had several recent dreams that showed us moving a long distance, now the idea to move to a new province was heavily on my mind. This idea must have been the right one, because with no resistance from my husband and the kids, we all agreed to move across the country.

A few nights later I dreamt of another fight inside my house. This time it was inside; it was also happening outside. I remember waking up not being able to move, like I had been strapped to the bed. As I was intensely listening to what sounded like people running through my house, it all stopped and I found myself waking up in the morning. This time there was evidence. Everything on the main floor seemed to have been moved slightly. The front and sliding glass doors were unlocked and open, and our truck was moved from where it had been parked the day before with the driver side door unlocked and slightly ajar.

Once again, I was filled in on what happened by my spirit guide. This is what my spirit guide said: the agreement I had made the other night was only that we were leaving soon and because the Vampires hadn’t backed away, the other party took it as a threat and decided to make them back up. This ended badly for the other party as the Vampires quickly ended them. The reason for the state of the truck was because a van was brought in to remove the bodies, and our truck had to be moved so they could park the vehicle by the garage doors. They left the doors unlocked and the house just slightly out of order deliberately for us to find. The Vampires wanted us to know they were still here protecting us and to prove to my husband that they were real. We moved across the country a month later.

It’s now 2026 as I’m sharing my stories, and I haven’t seen Damion or had any interactions with the Vampires since moving across the country. I stopped asking if they were around; I just accepted that they are and I’m glad for it. Though I will confess there have been times, short-lived, when I thought they hadn’t followed us across the country, since nothing has really happened since we arrived.

I always ask a question before going to sleep at night, and because of the recent decision to finally share my stories, I asked, “What would be the outcome of sharing my stories publicly?” The dream I had was this: I found myself standing in my living room, it was midnight and the front door opened. A new team of Vampires walked in and made themselves known to me. They weren’t dressed as tradesmen in Carhartt this time: no boots, no jeans. They were all wearing expensive suits, and the team was twice the size.
